Wherever you are,

ree

Running barefoot on the grass, she could feel the coldness of the leaves against her skin. They grazed her toes, brushed against her ankles as she ran to a destination unknown to her self. Around her was found what would be considered as nothingness. Grassland extended beyond the horizon, with occasional trees scattered here and there, none tall enough to obstruct the vastness of the plain. To her, it was far from being nothingness. It was everything. Everything she needed in that very moment. As she ran with a smile finding its way to her lips, she considered the infinity reigning in this very place. The infinite mechanisms of leaves and roots and branches and growth and, all of it. Yet, all of it was finite. For only her Lord knew infinity. Her smile widened as she was reminded yet again that reminders of Him were found in all and everything, as long as one looked with the right eye. She ran, but never ran out of breath. The air was neither warm nor cold, it was crisp and fresh as it caressed her cheeks. She extended her arms on her sides and let the breeze weave through and between her fingers. As the moment unfolded before her eyes, she could not get rid of some confusions in her mind. As she kept running, not knowing where she was going, a voice whispered to her, You can stop running now. You are safe. She did stop. She looked around; only grassland extending itself finitely. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. I don't know where to go. Nor what to do. I just know I want to be here. Wherever this is. I just know that I was lost, and that this place is my way. But I don't know how to stay. With this thought, she sat down on the grass. Running her hands through it, she fell in love with how soft they felt. She lied down as she kept running her hands on the grass. As she closed her eyes, she took a deep breath thinking of the vastness of life, and yet how minute it was compared to Him. As she lay there, her eyes closed to the Love she was scared of losing again, a beautiful scent embraced her nostrils. It was sweet and warm, almost vanilla-like, but really soft, like honey. She took in the scent, questioning where it came from oh-so suddenly. Before she could try to comprehend the source of the sweet scent, she felt something cold hit her cheek.

Then another on her forehead. Eyes still closed, she understood it had started to rain. She sat up, opened her eyes to a light rainfall upon the place she never wanted to leave. Why does the fear of leaving scare you so much? Startled, but not quite, she turned around to see who the voice she longed for belonged to. My Beloved! His smile filled her with a warmth she thought she would never feel again. As her eyes filled with tears, her mind cleared of fears. In that very moment, nothing mattered, except this moment itself. Walk with me. Part of her could not believe her ears, but her body moved before she could comprehend, if she ever could. She followed as her Beloved walked in front of her. She caught up with him and walked at his side as the rain kept falling upon their faces, not heavy enough to soak them or their clothes. His face was as bright as the moon, his hand held a staff as he walked delicately along the way. You wonder, he said, where we are going, don't you? But my question is, why do you wonder? It's not like you ever left. Your heart has been here all along, your soul fell asleep under the shade of these trees. Your mind might have drifted away, but you never really left. These words resonated though every part of her being. What if my mind drifts away again? Or, what if my heart does, this time? He smiled, and again it felt like time stopped. Then you bring them back. Always come back. I'll be waiting for you. He looked up at the sky and closed his eyes. The rain had stopped falling, all that was left was her, the greenness, and her wandering mind. As she looked to the sky too, she felt a sense of tranquility she had longed for. Perhaps he was right. Of course he was. Perhaps it was not about this place or any other. Perhaps no matter where her physical body went, her soul would remain here, under the shade of a tree in a vast plain where time stops and being ceases to be. She looked to her side, certain to see her Beloved standing there. He had vanished, however, and all that was left was her, and this beautiful, yet dissipating, moment. Until next time, She whispered.
